Summer
Blooms
… Just to name a few!
Garden Roses
I look forward to Mother’s Day every year, yes because I get to celebrate my sweet Mom but it is also the beginning of garden rose season. There are so many varieties that range in the most stunning colors, such as mauve, crimson, ivory, and mustard - and all with their unique fragrances. These blooms are stunning in arrangements as well as bouquets.
Phlox
Every season, I believe every florist awaits the day that phlox hits the stalls at the mart. Phlox is a summer staple that works itself into every arrangements or personals of almost every summer wedding. Its blossoms are delicate and add the perfect garden romance feel to everything it touches.
Dahlias
Dahlias, probably a fan favorite and I understand why. Dahlias are a sea of color and bring so much joy from their fun colors as well as shapes like the dinner plate Dahlias, Café Au Lait and the ball size Dahlias, Amber Queen. Dahlias make for great focal flowers as well as accent flowers. Ironically these heat loving blooms however do not do well in high heat because of their silk petals, so this is something to keep in mind.
Zinnias
Zinnias like Dahlias come in a sea of colors as well as sizes. These cheerful flowers make a great focal flower for larger varieties and great accent flower for the more petite blooms.
Cosmos
Starting in off early in the season, cosmos will continue to push new growth all through summer. I love cosmos because of their movement they add into arrangements as well bouquets. Cosmos are delicate, airy, and instantly add the touch of summer into your wedding.
Yarrow
Yarrow is a go to filler flower that I love to use in larger instals as well as arrangements. A native flower to California as well, making yarrow a drought tolerant as well. Coming in colors such as white, apricot, terracotta as well as paprika, they truly do go with any summer palette.
Fragrant Foliage
Summer not only brings bright and beautiful color blooms but it also brings fresh, fragrant foliage. Adding herbs and other fragrant greens is a great way to add in a garden style that will bring awe to every table. Some of my favorites are bee balm, oregano, basil, and sage.
Fruits & Vegetables
You probably did not think of adding fruit or vegetables into your wedding, but as a designer, it is such a fun element to blend into a wedding or event. Whether it is directly on the table or attached to the same, adding fruit or vegetables into your wedding, does not get anymore organic than that. Some of my favorites are tomatoes and their vines, blackberry and raspberry foliage, Peach and Apricots.
