The Cost of Florals
It is a question that crosses every client’s mind when starting the process of planning a wedding. And, for many, it can be a giant question mark because it is more complex than one would think.
Every Wedding is Unique
No wedding is the same, therefore to answer the question “What is the cost of flowers for a wedding,” needs to be followed up with “What are you looking for in your wedding?”
Flowers obviously have a face value; for example in today’s market, roses by the bunch can run up to forty dollars a bunch, and Calla Lillies thirty dollars a bunch. But this isn’t answering the root of the question for most people. Because, if you are reaching out to a florist, you are not just reaching out to them for bunches or stems of flowers; you are reaching out because they provide a service that either you may not be able to provide, may not have the time or resources to provide, and or the vision that you have for your wedding will need the service of a floral designer.
A Floral Designer
A floral designer is an artist, a business person, and a knowledgeable resource, just to name a few of the hats we wear on a given day. So when you seek out the professional help of a floral designer, you are not just paying for flowers to appear at your wedding, you are paying for a service from beginning to end. So when someone asks how much flowers cost, I think we are not asking the right question.
But to help you determine whether or not you should anticipate a large number for your wedding or a small number,
Here are some questions to consider that affect your floral budget.
How large is your wedding? Do you have a large bridal party, and do you have over 100 guests attending?
Is your Ceremony floral heavy? Do you have an aisle with the vision that it is lined with florals and an arch that is dense with florals or large pieces at your ceremony?
When thinking about your Reception, Are your tables lined with candles; tapers, votives, or pillar candles? Does every table have an arrangement?
With larger weddings or even if you just dream of a lot of florals, we have to hire a staff that week to execute your vision and dream professionally.
There is a florist for every client
The beauty of this industry is that there is a perfect fit for every client. If you are looking for a larger-than-life floral wedding, there is a florist for you, if you are looking for a whimsical and organic wedding, there is a florist for you. It is the service that you are paying for when it comes down to it. So, if you are looking for a DIY wedding, the service that a floral designer provides, may not be the best fit for you. That might be a bold statement, but when it comes to a designer’s time and resources, a budget DIY wedding turns into more of a financial burden.
The cost of Flowers and the service we provide
Planning a wedding is exciting, stressful, and full of surprises, but it is good to be prepared. If you are starting the wedding planning process, sit down; and talk with your partner about a realistic budget that reflects the vision for your wedding. Remember the questions that I suggested above. Instagram and Pinterest are a great places to find inspiration but can lead to unrealistic expectations at times and may not reflect your budget accurately. But a helpful note when planning your wedding, the more flowers and design that is involved in curating your wedding, the bigger the budget will need to be. Be open to design alternatives if the overall budget exceeds your max and work with your florist, they can help you along the way.
We hope this helps you along your journey, it is not an easy question to answer but we hope when you begin this exciting process of seeking a floral designer, you have a better idea of costs and the services that are being provided.
